As part of an eight day tour in Vietnam, the acclaimed American music band The Amigos performed a free concert inside the Imperial City during the 2014 Hue Festival. The Amigos band visited Hue through a cultural program sponsored by the U.S. Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City. The band also performed for patients at the Hue Central Hospital and for children of the Tuong Lai school at the Youth Center of Hue during their time in the city. “The U.S. Consulate General supports cultural events and exchanges in and around Hue. We support cultural heritage preservation projects, English language programs, and educational exchanges. With the Amigos Band, we are also happy to support the arts and music, which are so important to the history and culture of both Vietnam and the United States,” said Public Affairs Officer Alex Titolo.
The Amigos are a band dedicated to performing and creating American music through the traditions of collaboration and improvisation. In 2012-2013 the Amigos performed more than 40 concerts in New York City schools, hospitals, and community centers as part of the famous Lincoln Center’s outreach programming.
