Learn, exchange, grow, and serve. The U.S. Department of State offers many programs for non-U.S. citizens wishing to come to the U.S. for cultural, educational, or professional exchange. These programs are augmented by local opportunities in countries around that world that allow non-U.S. citizens to explore U.S. culture and the English language. The United States supports international education and welcomes foreign students and exchange visitors. Before applying for a visa, students and exchange visitors must be accepted by their schools or program sponsors.
American English is a resource center for teaching and learning about American English.
The Regional English Language Office (RELO) opened in the U.S. Embassy in Hanoi in 2015. Part of the Public Affairs Section, it cooperates with the Ministries of Education, teachers’ associations, universities, schools, and English language teaching (ELT) professionals on a variety of educational and cultural exchange programs and projects in order to enhance mutual understanding between the peoples of the region and the United States.
The Fulbright Program is the most prestigious international educational exchange program sponsored by the U.S. government. Fulbright is designed to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries while supporting innovative research and scholarship.
