On February 19th, the U.S. Consulate hosted a “U.S. Higher Education Spring Fair” at its EducationUSA Advising Center at Diamond Plaza. The fair marked the first time that Vietnam featured as stop on the EducationUSA fair circuit, illustrating the large and growing interest of U.S. universities in recruiting qualified Vietnamese students. The Fair hosted 23 universities and colleges from the U.S., who set up information tables in the Advising Center, and attracted an estimated 900 attendees over the course of the afternoon.
Opening the fair to a crowded room, Consul General Rena Bitter emphasized the importance of education as one of the top priorities for the U.S. Mission in Vietnam, and how EducationUSA staff at the U.S. Consulate General can assist students in pursuit of their dreams to study in the United States. Earlier that morning, EducationUSA also hosted a “Matchmaking” Mini-Fair for select Vietnamese and U.S. universities, providing a space for American and Vietnamese educational representatives to discuss areas for peer-to-peer cooperation and exchange.
