U.S. Mission Vietnam
Message for U.S. Citizens
October 1, 2021
Ho Chi Minh City authorities announced the gradual reopening and resumption of activities in Ho Chi Minh City beginning October 1, 2021. Restrictions on inter-provincial travel remain and vary depending on location.
U.S. citizens are advised to monitor local news outlets and observe changes in local behavior as well as to consult with their neighbors, landlords, employers, and local authorities for guidance on current conditions in their ward or district.
Please see the U.S. Mission in Vietnam’s COVID-19 Information Page for additional information regarding the COVID-19 situation in the country.
The U.S. Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City will gradually resume normal appointment scheduling for American Citizen Services. Customers should visit the scheduling portal to schedule an appointment or submit an inquiry if they need to contact the ACS Unit.
Other consular services including Nonimmigrant and Immigrant visa interviews will also gradually resume as staffing, safety guidelines, and local regulations permit. However, please note that applicants may continue to encounter significant scheduling delays. Nonimmigrant visa applicants who are in an urgent need to travel should continue to follow the instructions here to request an expedited appointment. Fiancé(e) and immigrant visa applicants who have questions about their specific case may contact the Immigrant Visa (IV) Unit here. We appreciate your understanding of our limitations as we work through a backlog of applications.
The U.S. Mission in Vietnam reminds all U.S. citizens that they are subject to local laws and regulations while visiting or living in Vietnam. We advise U.S. citizens to comply with the Government of Vietnam’s testing and quarantine requirements.
Government of Vietnam regulations regarding business operations, quarantine, movement, and travel restrictions in all parts of Vietnam can change with little notice.
