Are you a U.S. citizen living in abroad? Are you hoping to vote on November 6th in the federal election? No problem! The Federal Voting Assistance Program (FVAP) and the network of U.S Embassies/Consulates around the world can help you. Request or mail your ballot for FREE at the “Let’s Vote 2018 Party” at the American Center on October 2, from 5-7pm, 8th floor Diamond Plaza, 34 Le Duan, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City.
Even if you can’t attend next Tuesday you can follow these two easy steps to get started.
- Register to vote and request your ballot with one form.
It’s called the Federal Post Card Application (FPCA). You can get it at FVAP.gov or by visiting your nearest U.S. Consulate or Embassy. Complete the FPCA, sign it, and send it back to the local election official in the last county and state you resided at prior to moving abroad. You can find the address for your local election official by visiting FVAP.gov.
- Fill out and send in your ballot when it arrives.
Once you receive your ballot, fill it out and send it back to your local election official. Like the FPCA, you may be able to return your ballot by email or fax, so check what your state allows. Officials at the U.S. Embassy or Consulate can help you find the best option to sending your voted ballot back to the U.S.
For the General Election, you should receive your ballot by early October and send it back as soon as possible!
If you don’t get your ballot by October 8, that’s no problem. Get a Federal Write-In Absentee Ballot (FWAB) from FVAP.gov. Fill it out and send it like your regular ballot. After you send in your ballot, you can even verify that it was received. Select your state at FVAP.gov and check the status of your ballot.
The Federal Voting Assistance Program makes it that simple. Visit FVAP.gov; call 1-800-438-VOTE; or email vote@fvap.gov to make sure you can vote from anywhere.
