The week before World Environment Day, 700 riders including Ho Chi Minh City government officials, the business community, and youth joined the first-ever bicycle ride to promote green urban living. Hosted by the American Center, Intel Vietnam, and Saigon Times Group, the theme of the ride was “Let’s ride for a Green Environment,” designed to promote practical steps people can take together to combat the harmful effects of global climate change. The fun 5-kilometer social ride attracted wide media attention and set off a social media firestorm featuring videos and photos by riders excited by this unique event. Consul General Rena Bitter emphasized the importance of cooperation to combat global climate change before leading the ride along with Intel and media executives, and local government officials.
