March – Security Assistance
After six days of humanitarian assistance efforts in Quang Ngai Province, Vietnam, members of the U.S. military and Vietnam People’s Army concluded the Pacific Angel program on March 30, 2015. Seventy seven U.S. military members joined approximately 16 members of the VPA, six military medical experts from Singapore, Thailand and Cambodia, and more than 80 members of a non-governmental organization, East Meets West, to carry out the program that celebrates the shared commitment to a prosperous and secure Asia-Pacific region.
At the health service outreach sites, United States and Vietnamese military medical members provided general health, dental, optometry and physical therapy services to more than 5,100 patients at two locations in the Quang Ngai Province. The engineering capability program fully renovated two primary schools and two medical clinics. In addition, the U.S. and Vietnam military forces experts exchanged techniques and information on specific topics such as public health and construction safety.
