In September and October, the American Center Ho Chi Minh City organized a MOOC camp featuring the ‘College Writing – Principles of Written English, part 1’ course offered by University of Berkeley in California. More than 500 students applied to join discussion sessions at the Center. Around one thousand others followed the course online. The MOOC camp was very popular and attracted many students, who found the discussion sessions enlightening and challenging. This specific MOOC helped students to develop skills, such as expressing an opinion and writing to support a viewpoint, which are not taught in Vietnamese schools. The course also helped participants understand and apply course materials in an online course, a format still very new to Vietnamese students.
