Secretary Michael R. Pompeo met today with Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh in Washington. They discussed efforts to strengthen the U.S. Vietnam Comprehensive Partnership by deepening political, security, economic, and people-to-people ties, in addition to cooperation on humanitarian and legacy of war issues. They affirmed a shared commitment to promote peace, security, and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region. The Secretary welcomed the upcoming 25th anniversary of the normalization of bilateral relations in 2020.
