Attention!
If your passport was lost or stolen, please prepare the required documents listed on the Replace a Lost or Stolen Passport instead of the list below.
If you have urgent travel plans, we can assist you by issuing an emergency passport. Such passports will be limited in validity, and cannot be extended (validity depends on the case but maximum validity is up to one year). Passport holders are required to exchange their limited validity passport for a full-validity photo-digitized passport upon completion of their emergency travel, either through passport facilities in the U.S. or at U.S. Embassies and Consulates abroad.
Please be advised that some countries, such as Indonesia, may have restrictions on travelers entering with a limited-validity U.S. passport. If your next destination is outside the United States, please review the entry/exit restrictions for that country, by visiting the U.S. Department of State travel page here.
To apply for an emergency passport, please CLICK HERE to make an appointment for “Passport services other than adding pages.”
Upon receiving the required documents, the consular officer will determine if you are eligible for an emergency passport.
Please note that in order to be fair to applicants, our office only consider expedite requests when there is an urgent need to travel due to an extreme emergency. If you need to request an expedited appointment, you must first schedule an appointment online (If no appointment slots are available for you to schedule, please explain clearly in your inquiry.) After successfully scheduling a regular appointment, you must visit our Inquiry Form to submit an expedite request. Please include:
1) the reason your case is an extreme emergency and you must have an earlier appointment,
2) the date and time of your scheduled appointment (If no appointment slots are available for you to schedule, please explain clearly in your inquiry) and the date and time of your preferred appointment if your request is approved, and
3) attach evidence of your emergency situation or an explanation why an earlier appointment will help you resolve your emergency situation.
If you do not provide ALL the information listed above, your request will not be considered.
At the time of your appointment, you will need to provide ALL of the following documents:
