Proceedings of “The American Experience in Southeast Asia, 1946-1975”
The Department of State’s Office of the Historian in the Bureau of Public Affairs convened a conference September 29-30, 2010, on U.S. policy and the war in Southeast Asia, 1946-1975, with special emphasis on the years of greatest American involvement in the conflict in Vietnam. Featured speakers included Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Dr. Henry Kissinger and Ambassador John Negroponte, participants in the Vietnam policy process, and the late Ambassador Richard C. Holbrooke.

This volume covers U.S. policy towards Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia from the signing of the Paris Peace Accords on January 27, 1973, to the fall of Phnom Penh and Saigon in April 1975. The final chapter covers the May 1975 SS Mayaguez incident. Released 2010.

U.S. Vietnam Trade Council
The U.S.-Vietnam Trade Council is a nonprofit membership organization founded in 1989 under the leadership of Ambassador William H. Sullivan and Foreign Minister Nguyen Co Thach to build a new future relationship between former enemies. The U.S.-Vietnam Trade Council’s core agenda is built around three issues: the full normalization of U.S.-Vietnam relations; the framework of policy essential to building a new economic partnership between the two nations; and the assistance to the establishment of links that increases bilateral trade and investment.
