Health Alert – U.S. Embassy and U.S. Consulate General Ho Chi Minh City – Self-Quarantine for Recent Travelers to Da Nang (May 17, 2021)
Location: Vietnam
Event: Self-Quarantine for Recent Travelers to Da Nang
On May 14, the Hanoi Department of Health issued a directive that requests anyone in Hanoi who traveled to Da Nang from May 1 to May 14 to make a medical declaration at tokhaiyte.vn, to self-quarantine at home for 21 days (counting from the last day in Da Nang), and to be tested for COVID-19.
The U.S. Embassy Hanoi and Consulate General Ho Chi Minh City cannot intervene in the quarantine rules established by the Vietnamese government and may not issue any documentation requesting the Vietnamese government to amend or waive quarantine requirements for U.S. citizens. For further details, please see: “Question: What can you do for me if I’m forced into quarantine?” in our frequently asked questions page here.
The U.S. Embassy in Hanoi and Consulate General Ho Chi Minh City encourage U.S. citizens to abide by all Government of Vietnam directives. U.S. citizens should refrain from gathering in large groups and monitor local news and government restrictions to avoid travel disruptions. U.S. citizens are reminded that they are subject to Vietnamese laws and regulations while in Vietnam and that Government of Vietnam regulations regarding quarantine and travel restrictions in all parts of Vietnam can change with little notice.
We recommend U.S. citizens check the Embassy’s COVID-19 page daily for information and register or update their information with the Department of State’s Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP).
