Important Notices – NIV

* Nonimmigrant visa services are operating as normal.  However, please note that applicants may continue to encounter significant scheduling delays.  Nonimmigrant visa applicants who are in an urgent need to travel should continue to follow the instructions here to request an expedited appointment.  We encourage you to book your appointment as soon as you think you may need to travel in the future.

* Starting at 12:01 a.m. EDT on June 12, 2022, the CDC will no longer order air passengers to show a negative COVID-19 test result, or show documentation of recovery from COVID-19, prior to boarding a flight to the United States. Of note, CDC’s Order requiring proof of vaccination for non-U.S. citizen nonimmigrants to travel to the United States is still in effect. For more information see Requirement for Proof of COVID-19 Vaccination for Air Passengers.  Check the CDC website for additional information and Frequently Asked Questions.

* Please do not enter the U.S. Embassy or the U.S. Consulate General if you are feeling ill or have reason to believe you have been exposed to COVID-19. You may reschedule your appointment.  All applicants/customers are encouraged to maintain proper physical distancing and to wash their hands to prevent transmission of COVID-19.

* Attention 221(g) Mail-in Visa Applicants at the U.S. Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City:  You may come to the consulate for an interview anytime between 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, or Friday, except holidays.  We will welcome only a limited number of such applicants, so it is first come, first serve. If you submitted your mail-in visa application more than 6 months before the interview, then you will also need to provide a new visa photo.
