The U.S. Mission to Vietnam is pleased to announce the launch of the 2014 Competition for Grants to Advance the Rights of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Persons (LGBT Grants).
This competitive program offers grants of up to $24,000 to support local civil society organizations working to advance the human rights of LGBT persons. Proposals (in English) are due by March 10, 2014.
Aiming to bring additional attention and resources to LGBT issues through initiatives developed by local and national civil society organizations, including academic institutions and coalitions/networks, awards may range from $5,000-$24,000 and the maximum duration of each project is 18 months.
Focusing on combating discrimination, violence, and imprisonment, competitive applications should include need-based ideas that address new opportunities, react to immediate situations, and highlight specific needs; and/or they should be ideas or concepts that address policy objectives that result in advancement of equality and protection for LGBT persons.
The following types of activities are NOT encouraged to be included in the proposals:
- Stand-alone conferences and onetime events
- Pride Parades
- Art projects
- Activities on Marriage Equality
