Hanoi began their largest ever COVID-19 vaccination campaign on July 28. The campaign aims to vaccinate 5.1 million capital-city residents from July 2021 to April 2022. Vaccinations will be made available to anyone 18 and older regardless of nationality. Those who register on the vaccine portal will be divided into 10 priority groups and will receive the vaccine free of charge.
The U.S. Embassy in Hanoi will continue to ensure that U.S. citizens living in Vietnam have equal access to the COVID-19 vaccine alongside Vietnamese citizens. U.S. citizens do not need a letter of permission from the Embassy in order to receive a vaccine.
Registering for a Vaccine: The U.S. Embassy advises U.S. citizens to register for a vaccine via the national vaccination portal, https://tiemchungcovid19.gov.vn/portal. This portal helps vaccination centers contact users when vaccines are ready. We have published a step-by-step guide with photos explaining how to register in the vaccine portal. Please note that the Department of State does not manage the Vietnamese vaccination portal and cannot guarantee how entered information is used or stored.
In addition, the U.S. Embassy recommends U.S. citizens check the Embassy’s COVID-19 page daily for information. We also encourage U.S. citizens to register and update their information with the Department of State’s Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP).
